Veruska Oppedisano

Biography

Veruska Oppedisano obtained her PhD in Economics at the University of Torino in 2009. Her doctoral thesis was entitled “Three Essays on Education”. Prior to this, she obtained an MSc in Economics at Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona in 2005 and her BA at the Catholic University in Milan.

During her PhD Veruska worked on two research projects: the first is currently part of a project with Prof. Giuseppe Bertola and Prof. Daniele Checchi at the University of Torino on the quality of private secondary education. The second project from her PhD is centred on higher education in Italy. It analyzes the demand of higher education and the poor performance of students enrolled in university and assesses the effects of the expansion of the supply of higher education on educational and labour market outcomes.

Her main focus on this project is the analysis of the determinants of the evolution of inequalities in educational attainment using Pisa data for a subset of countries with different institutional arrangements.
